Peggy our prayers and thoughts are with you and your Mum. I am sure that she is in the best place and getting the best care possible. The worst is over with the operation, the infection is not nice but can be overcome.
Keep your chin up and think of all the good time to come.

    Love David

Peggy, I am so sorry to hear about Mina.
I do hope they can find out what is wrong and that everything will be OK.
The doctors can do wonderful things these days as I have found out.
You are both in our prayers.
Fay and I send you all our love. Give Mina a hug of comfort from us.

Fay and I both love avocado in any shape or form. Some of the biggest I have seen were in Tobago, about 10 inches long and weighed about 750g, enough for 4 people as a starter with prawms in a creole dressing…yum, yum!
Because they don’t grow here they tend to be sold under ripe so don’t have the same taste as if ripened on the tree.. There are so many different types it is difficult to remember them all.. I prefere the large smooth skinned ones for ease of peeling!!!!! 😀 😀

If I was feeling better I would have made you a CAKE with not too many candles on it.

    Hi
The lakes can be splendid when the sun shine but all I have ever seen when visiting them is RAIN and yet more Rain…..
Talking of which we have had rain here in Sunny Scarborough nearly all this week. The plants in the allotment are growing and we are eating our own raddishes, lettuce and new potatoes. We have planted out runner beans, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, cauliflower and early and main crop potatoes.
The tomatoes in the greenhouse have their first flowers as have the peas, broad beans and strawberries. ( The strawberries in the cold frame have set fruit, so it won’t be long before we get to tast them)
Between the allotment and our own garden I am not having a lot of free time but will visit as oftewn as I can. We are of to France on Saturday at 6.00am so it means leaving home for the Airport at Leeds in the early hours, about 2.45am!!!!! Not looking forward to that!!!
Fay finses at Hull University today, she has worked there as a clerical assistant for 2 years.. She is starting as the Exams officer for community education on 2 June..
John keep having the walks and occasional pint.. sounds good to me.

Will let you know about France on my return.
    Keep well

    Hi John
Just been up to the allotment and the ground is dry and dusty. Not too warm today, about 11C, they have promised rain for the last few days but it seems to miss us and the plants are curling up with thirst.

Fay has handed her notice in at the University and is starting work at the Community Education office as the Exams Officer on 1st June.. This is part time over 3 days so will give her Thursday and Friday off. We can then spend more time together.

She is due some holiday so will actually finish work on Thurs 17th. We have booked flights to Lyon in France to visit a friend who works in Valence which is about an hours drive to the south. We hope to visit the chocolate boutique at Valrhona chocolate in Tain l’Hermitage- They produce some of the best chocolate in the world from individual named estates… A 400g box of their chocolates (of your choice) costs about $40, so we w’ont be buying a lot but they do let you taste before you buy!!!!!

We will probably go to Chateauneuf du Pape a bit further to the south for a day out and visit some of the wine estates for a taste or two with perhaps a stop at some other wine vilage in the Rhone valley to taste wine and truffles for wich this area is famed.. Also on the way south there is Montelimar.. fameous for Nougat so we may have to stop there for a sample or two..

We will return home on the 26th a little bloated and 2 stone heavier!!!!!

I had thought about a visit to the southern states to tyry out your mudbugs etc. When the insurance people wanted $1400 for medical insurance for 10 days I put that idea on hold. This was more than the flights and hotel were going to cost per person..

    Take care
    David

sounds as though a good time was had by all. I had friends round the other day and time just flys, but you have to listen to your body and if it says “I NEED TO SLEEP” just close your eye and start giving out the ZZZZZZZZZZs.
good friends will understand and quietly leave….. Pushing yourself to far is a BIG :nonono:

Go for it Texas Girl, make the most of your time together. Its great that you are moving to the country…. where exactly and how far from the civilized world is this place?

I retired properly in January and now am the proud recipient of a works pension.. better still a bus pass that gives me FREE travel around the county on the public bus service.

Fay is about to start a new job with the local community education service, they run short courses in anything from flower arranging and basic computer skills to Basic English and Maths for those who were no good at them in school. This job is 18.5 hours a week over 3 days.. Mon to Wed so will mean that we get to spend Thurs to Sunday together. This will be great and I am really looking forward to it.

    I’m here…..

Been back iin hospital with an infection again. A large dose of antibiotics and various tests later they finally let me escape.

I am feeling fine and am looking forward to getting on the allotment and into the garden again. Things are starting to grow and I managed to prick out 500 seedlings ( mostly flowers) yesterday!!!!

A lot of French Marigolds to plant amongst the veg to keep the greenfly at bay.

Hope You all had a good Easter and a restful few days off work.

Must get ready to go the doctors for them to look at my now healed wound.
Hopefully this will be the end of that saga for me.
The consultant said that I may get more infections, but that he will try and sort that out when I see him in May.

    Will be back soon
