David CParticipant
uch the same here in the UK, except that they have just put up tax by taking away the lowest rate of income tax and thus hitting the lowest paid and pensioners like me!!
They used to have a slogan that said help the economy BUY BRITISH….
Now this is just about impossible as even old English firms like Royal Doulton pottery are made in China, Thailand or Taiwan. Our clothes are made in Sri Lanka, India or China and our food comes from all over the place. I bought a Pizza in Marks & Spencers and it had been hand made in Italy!! M&S used to pride itself on sourcing all its good and clothes in the UK but now its clothes are made in India and its food comes from all over, although it does sell only British farm produce and use free range eggs in its ready meals etc.
WE MUST try and support our own where we can…. that is becomming nearly impossible!David 😥 😥

David CParticipantHi all
Spring is trying to arrive with temps of 12-14 Centigrade early this week. Tomorrow it drops to 6 C for the weekend….the poor plants in the garden dont know when to start growing!!
Found this weather website the other day.. thought it might be of interest to some of you as you can add links to your own site!!
Hpoe spring gets there soon for us all.
DavidDavid CParticipantSounds as if you enjoyed yourself…Just wish I could have been there to share.
Next time dont hog them all to yourself let others know of the treat so as they might join in.David CParticipantHi txs Chef
So sorry to hearabout your mum. It is really hard to see someone you love in a confused state of mind. It is harder for us to watch than it is for them, they are in their own world where every thing id just fine. The body is a very resilient thing and can survive without food for quite a while.
Last summer I spent 13 weeks in hospital- the first 3 weeks on just water and a saline drip!! The last 10 weeks I was allowed 500ml of water a day and was fed through a tube into my vein during the night.
I lost about 2 stone but was in a fit condition when I finally had my operation.
I do hope that your Mum is OK and that she will be out of hosptal soon..It can be very tireing visiting every day with little or no conversation.
Our prayers are with you all
Take care
DavidDavid CParticipantGreat fun…..Ha Ha

Christmas pudding with rum sauceI wish you could all join us!!
Have a great Christmas and I hope that the New Year is kind to you all.Love and best wishes
David & FayDavid CParticipantYou take it from someone who knows… TAKE IT EASY and let everything heal up befor you try and become a hero.
It is easy to think you are fitter than you are .. just listen to you body and do a little at atime and then have a rest.
Glad you are recovering and great to hear from you again
Love DavidDavid CParticipantJust remember to back up on a regular basis…I became complacent and when I came to transfer stuff from my old computer over to my shiney new one the old hard disk decided that then was the time to corrupt its directory!!!! 😥 😥 😥
I tried every recovery and repair program that I could get my hands on to no avail. I have had to take it to the computer hospital where thy will perform major surgery to remove the disk and transplant it into another machine to try and recover at least some of my data, like email address book etc.
The machine is then terminally ill and will go to the great big cumputer graveyard in the sky!!..They have told me the cost of this surgery but have said that they will do it for free if I give them the moniter to transplant into another machine.
The moral of this tale is
MAKE A NACK UP onto an external hard drive or DVD.
I am crying very stupid.
David😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥 :duh: :duh:
David CParticipantBorn 24th January 1947 in Chester England.
So am older than You Bobby!!! Got my free bus pass and took my pension early. Getting older does have some compensations. I also get a 10% discount in one of the national DIY stores for being over 60, but only on a Wednesday!! I went last week at about 8.30am and the car park was full, loads of oldies in there 70s and 80s obviosly cannot sleep!!
DavidDavid CParticipantHi all
The weather here, yesterday and today is bright and sunny with blue skybut a real autumn chill in the air. Tday the temp is showing only 10 degrees C.
I have managed to get some of the garden tidied and will have to show my face at the allotment, although my friend is well on top of things there.
After my operation I still cannot lift anything for another 6 weeks so am really stuck with the digging etc.
I have got into the rythem of baking my own bread in the last few weeks, it is so much nicer than the stuff you buy in the shops…trouble is you eat more!! I have just started a batch now using a organic stoneground wholemeal flour mixed with a very strong white bread flour. I can get fresh yeast from our local supermarket and so buy this, cut it into blocks of 12g and then keep it in the freezer. 1 block is enough for 400g flour for a large loaf..The pumpkins are in the shops so will have to make a pie and some cakes.. Ill leave the making of lanterns to those with children!!! I will need some treats for the little monsters when they come around. We then have November 5th to look forward to. This commemorates an attempt, by Guy Fawkes of York, to blow up the houses of Parliament..
We have a bonfire and let off fireworks, eat Parkin and toffee apples.
The majority of people now go to organised displays as the cost of the fireworks is quite high, there is also the danger of serious burns if not used properly.. every year there are pictures in the news of the most horrific accidents mostly caused by youngsters fooling around..Be back soon
DavidDavid CParticipantLove Jazz am going to follow link as soon as I finich here!! 😛
David CParticipantPeggy… What can I say that might bring comfort at this sad time? My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Remember that the hurt you feel now will fade and the fond memories of all the good times will remain with you forever.
God bless and be strong.
Love DavidDavid CParticipantI hope everything works out for them.
Of course you and all the family are in our prayer.
Thinking of you all with love in our hearts
