So far I haven’t got enough rain to reg. in the guage. The weather forcast showed we may get from 1 to 4 ins., but it doesn’t look like we are going to get it. I had to move stock out of 2 pastures because of no grass or water. I don’t want a storm to bring the rain and wind, all I need is the rain. BH
imported_BobbyMemberLooks like your catching up with me. Ha! I can’t remember anything any more. I’ll have something on my mind, go out to the barn and ask myself, what was I after?
imported_BobbyMemberI was looking at some changes I had to make in my cattle and horse operation as far as me checking pastures. I usually would leave in the mornings to check pastures, which is a 96 mile round trip. I was making this every other day, now I am doing it once a week to save on gas. I have been talking to the man that owns the feed store where I trade about the high cost of grain and feed going up so much. I bought 2 sacks of feed and 1-2gal. bucket hoof conditoner for $100.75. Looks like I’m gonna have to sell the cows and eat the horses. BH
imported_BobbyMemberDid you have a good time? Thats what counts!! BH
imported_BobbyMemberI saw that you were down and at the vet clinic for a while. I could have saved you some of that greef with a little cattle drench, which would have had you back on your feet in 24hrs. 😆 , but I see you made a pretty good recovery. I have been out of pocket again fixin fence and selling a few cows. BH
imported_BobbyMemberWelcome to the crew, my name is Bobby Hinson and I live right down the road from you a ways. If you cross the Brazos River in Brazoria and go south a few miles you can get to our place. BH
imported_BobbyMemberWell, I can put up with a little rain right now, but I hope not to much. Lucky, I will eat plenty of deer for both of us!! 😆 BH
imported_BobbyMemberPeg – That was a good video, for anyone who does not know how to carve a turkey it would be a great help. BH
imported_BobbyMemberI really enjoy the buffet. The prices are not so high and the food is good. BH
imported_BobbyMemberA deer lease is property that is owned by someone, other than yourself, that you pay to hunt for a season. A season for So. Texas is from the first part of Nov. to the first part of Jan., that is gun hunting. Bow hunting starts in Oct. The land I am hunting doesn’t cost me anything to hunt, deer, hog, or squirrel. I hope that kinda explains it a little bit Lucky.
imported_BobbyMemberThe rain has given me a break and my pastures have dried up enough to start mowing them. It has been very hot and humid down here also. The cows have been staying under trees during the heat of the day, trying to stay cool. There is a lot of hay being baled at this time, but still about two or three cuttings behind. BH
imported_BobbyMemberRain, rain, go a way, come back in a month or two. BH
imported_BobbyMemberWell I have lucked out today (Monday) it has been sunny most all day. It rained off and on all weekend. Pastures look like soup boles in places. 95 deg. and wearing rubber boots in the mud. Gotta love this So. East Tex. gumbo, like gum when its wet and like cement when its dry. BH
imported_BobbyMemberIt all depends on the type baler that is used. Some bales are 4×5, 4×6, 5×5, 5×6, 6×5, 6×6 & etc. The bales I use are 6×6 and will weigh from 1,150 to 1,450 each (dry). It would take about 17 to 20 square bales to equal one round bale this size.
imported_BobbyMemberI am one step ahead of you gal, they are already hanging in the barn and in the stalls. Thanks for the info anyway. BH
