    Blood Dripped Glasses

1/4 cup of honey or corn syrup
12 drops of red food coloring

Mix ingredients together well to affect the look of blood dip the rims of your wine goblets into the mixture. Turn glasses upright and let stand to allow the blood mixture to drip down the sides of the glasses.

For a great outdoor display that gives the effect of glowing faces floating in the dark, hang Jack O’ Lanterns at various lengths from plant hangers.

    Crime Scene

If you want a great effect for a few pennies try this. Using chalk, draw figures in your driveway that look like the figures drawn by police in a crime accident. You can have a friend or relative draw around you while you pose as the victim. You can purchase crime scene tape like that above at party stores.

    Dried Apple Shrunken Heads

These little faces, made from dried apples, can look really nasty and sinister — the perfect thing to decorate a Halloween party. Tuck them in among the food at your Halloween Buffet. You can also make lots of dried apple heads and string them up like a spooky garland.

Another idea is to make apple dolls. Once dry, insert a strong wire to form a body, add clothes or other

    You will need:

    apples
    whole cloves
    a few grains of rice
    1/2 C lemon juice
    2 tsp. salt

Peel a large apple and coat with mixture of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of salt to prevent browning. With a potato peeler or small knife carve out eye sockets, a nose, mouth and ears. Don’t worry about carving small details as they will be lost when the apple dries. Go for the big features and nature will take care of the rest.

Use whole cloves for eyes and raw rice grains for teeth (the faces also come out looking great without these extra props, just carve and let dry if you want to keep it simple).

Sit apples on a wire rack in a warm, dry place for about 2 weeks. Shape the faces as they shrink and harden. You can speed the drying process a little by drying in an oven set at the lowest temperature. However, the process will still take several days.

    Halloween Breakfast

Scrambled eggs feel and look much more like brains than cold spaghetti – add a few drops of green, red and blue food coloring as you’re beating the eggs and the final product will frighten even the most hardened child. A drop of two of red coloring turn grapefruit sections pale pink making them into very convincing thumbs.

    Sulfuric Acid Swig

6 ounces lemonade, frozen concentrate — partially thawed
    1/2 cup lemon juice
1 cup grapefruit juice — cold
    2 quarts lemon sherbet
1 quart club soda — cold

In a large pitcher, mix together the lemonade concentrate, lemon juice and grapefruit. Add to this the amount of water required on the lemonade can.

Pour the liquid into tall glasses, filling them halfway, and add a scoop of lemon sherbet to each. Fill the glasses with club soda and serve immediately.

Just before serving, sprinkle the top of each glass with a pinch of lemon or lime-flavored powdered drink mix. Makes for a totally toxic-looking treat!

    Sewer Float

    12 oz root beer
    4 scoops vanilla ice cream
    food coloring
    gummy worms

Place the ice cream scoops in a tall glass. Drop a few drops of yellow, blue and red food coloring over the ice cream. Slowly pour the root beer over the ice cream. You can add more food coloring if needed to make it a more disgusting color. Drape several gummy worms over the edge of the glass.

    Bile Brew

    water
    2 bananas, ripe
    sugar
1 can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1/2 can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
    unsweetened pineapple juice
    cranberry juice
    2 liter bottle lemon-lime soda
    mini marshmallows

    1. Make room in your freezer for your cauldron. Place cauldron on table.

    2. Ask Parent Wizard to help you cut the ripe bananas into chunks. Put bananas into the blender. Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar into blender. Blend until the bananas are smooth but a little chunky (about 15 to 20 seconds).

    3. Pour banana mixture into cauldron. Dump orange juice, lemonade, 2 cups pineapple juice, 1 cup cranberry juice and 1 cup water into cauldron. Stir with long handled spoon. (Chant: Bile brew, Up-chuck stew, Makes me sick, How ’bout you?)

    4. Wrap cauldron tightly with plastic wrap (make sure it is tightly wrapped to avoid wrath of the Parent Wizard) and carefully place it into the freezer to curdle and brew. Freeze for at least 3 hours (best if it brews overnight).

    5. Remove brew from freezer about 1 hour before you want to drink the curdled concoction.

    6. Just before serving, mash brew into a chunky concoction using the potato masher. Add chilled lemon-lime soda and 1 cup mini marshmallows (for that putrid chunky look). Stir brew, and serve.

    Nuclear Waste

    1 measure Blue Curacao
    1 measure Bailey’s Irish Cream
Top up with one pint lager

The end result is a sort of greenish-brown liquid with scummy bits floating in it and a THICK layer of scum on top. Tastes wonderful, though, especially if you dunk chocolate bars in. (These are referred to as Control Rods, and the bar of preference is a Toffee Crisp, if only because the crisped rice pieces start floating around in the drink and making it look even nastier)

The nuclear wastes I’ve seen mix Blue cCracao and orange juice (and vodka). Turns everything a very nice shade of fluorescent green.

    Witch’s Warts

    1/4 C. butter, cubed
    8 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate
    1/2 C. heavy cream

Melt butter. Remove from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate. Cover and let rest for about 3 minutes to melt the chocolate, then stir until smooth. Add the heavy cream gradually, stirring until totally incorporated and chocolate loses its shine. Refrigerate until slightly firm (approx. 20 – 30 minutes).

    Yields about 60 warts.

    Vampire’s Vengeance Garlic Ice Cream

    3/4-1 c sugar
    1/8 tsp salt
    2 T lemon juice

Soak the gelatin in cold water. Bring the milk, sugar, and salt to a boil. Dissolve the gelatin in the hot milk. Cool, then add the lemon juice and garlic. Chill the mixture until slushy. Whip the cream until thick but not stiff and fold carefully into the mixture. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s directions, or freeze in a mold, or a foil covered tray. Serve with a rosary.
