thinking quickly, Shelia wonders if her sister could take this load off her hands at least for the day! Things were really turning out for the worst of worst. She runs in the kitchen to get some drinks and after settling them all down she excuses herself to call her sister, Irene, to see if she can help her out with ……

:nana: :nana: How many times has that happened to us?! The wanting to kill company part! 😆
January 14, 2007 at 5:36 am #32533PeggyMembergetting these people OUT of her house. She picks up the phone, then says oh boy, this is how it all started, with the phone!
She quickly dials her sister, who answers the phone in a sleepy voice. Sheila says “you have just GOT to help me!” Irene just mumbles into the phone and then hangs up! Sheila is beside herself with what to do with all these PEOPLE! Then she has a brainstorm…..
January 15, 2007 at 1:29 am #32808generallParticipantShe pretends to sneeze and fakes a violent coughing fit! Oh dear, she said in her best croaking voice. I seem to be coming down with something horrible. Maybe you’d better not stay, she gasps, It might be catching. For a moment they stared at Shelia without a sound, then suddenly they all began to talk at once. I’m putting you right to bed, dear, gushed aunt Effie, and fix you a nice bowl of soup. Take her temperature, ordered Lyle. She needs a mustard pack. said Ella. NO! barked Harry, she needs a hot toddy and a steamy towel. Before she knew it, Shelia found herself being practically dragged down the hall to bedroom…
January 15, 2007 at 1:47 am #32814GeorgieannaParticipantoh boy, she was in hot soup now! She didn’t know what she was gonna do to be able to get out of this now. Seconds were ticking away on the clock and she was thinking a mile a minute. Should she just come out and tell her aunt the truth and let whatever happens happen or should she try to call Irene again after they leave her alone in the bedroom to see if she could wake her up enough to get her to help out?
Aunt Effie walks back in the bedroom with a bowl of soup and a glass of water, lays it down and….January 15, 2007 at 2:53 am #32830PeggyMemberSheila says, I’m sorry Aunt Effie but I couldn’t possibly eat anything right now. I feel way too sick to my stomach. Aunt Effie says, well Shelia, you poor thing, I guess instead of just staying the night as we had intended, we are going to all have to stay with you to make sure you get the help you need. You can’t do anything in your condition! Lyle, Aunt Effie hollers, you are just going to have to go outside and get all our suitcase. We are going to have to unpack, because we sure can’t leave now…
January 15, 2007 at 7:50 am #32955generallParticipantwe are needed here! Sheila lay on her bed listening to the commotion in the other room. What was she going to tell her husband? She would ask them to pick up the kids and she could have a rapid recovery…oh what a tangled web we weave… She could try and explain to the dinner guests that..Dinner! She’d forgotten all about it., nothing was defrosted! She sprang from the bed and hurried into the kitchen, wild eyed…
January 15, 2007 at 10:04 am #32980PeggyMemberonly to find Aunt Effie happily humming to herself and stirring something on the stove that smelled wonderful! Shelia’s mouth was watering and her stomach was rumbling. She STILL had not eaten all day! Now what in the heck am I going to do? I am starving to death, but I just told Aunt Effie that I couldn’t possibly eat anything. She went and stood beside her Aunt and was enhaling the rich aroma coming from the pot. Aunt Effie said, Shelia! Just what are you doing out of bed? You march yourself right back to your room and lie down, I insist! We have everything covered here. I have supper cooking for the rest of us, your Uncle has brought in all our suitcases, and everything is unpacked. I’ll reheat that nice soup from earlier, and bring you a bowl, with a few crackers. It wouldn’t be a good idea for you to eat anything solid for now, not with the way your poor stomach has been. I won’t take no for an answer, now go!
January 15, 2007 at 6:19 pm #33024generallParticipantWell, thought Sheila, other than explaining to Jack{her husband} maybe this could work. I’ll rest for a bit then make a salad to go along with whatever Aunt Effie has cooked. She was trying to think of a simple appetizer, when Uncle Harry appeared in the door way. He had a steaming cup of liquid in his hands. Here, forget the soup, this will make you right with the world! Sheila took a large sip. It burned her throat but tasted curiously good and she drained the cup. I’ll get you another, he said, and in no time, was back with the refill. It was only after she downed the second cup that Sheila thought to ask what is was. My own special recipe, he beamed, now you rest and I’ll check in with another, in a little while and disappeared out the door. Sheila smiled as she lay on the bed. She felt pretty good! Let them eat cake, she giggled and drifted into sleep…
January 15, 2007 at 8:02 pm #33060GeorgieannaParticipantLater, Shelia awoke to hear a lot of laughter and talking coming from the kitchen or living room. She glanced at the clock and it said 8:30. Eight thirty! What happened to me? Did I fall asleep? She jumped up and ran into the area with all the laughter to see what was going on and there she saw her entire family and Jack’s boss along with his wife all playing charades and having a wonderful time! What’s going on? Shelia asked all excited and unaware of what had been happening while she slept. Well, for one thing, Uncle Harry said laughing and his eyes crinkling, is you certainly enjoyed that “little recipe” I made up for you. You sure look better. And as for us, why we’re just…..
January 16, 2007 at 7:34 pm #33244generallParticipantgetting along fine! The kids are spending the night at Irene’s, he said, come join us. Sheila cooked around the room at their faces. Why, she thought, they’re all pie-eyed! They all had cups of Uncle Harry’s concoction. Mr. McFeenie, Jack’s boss, though smiling, looked a little green around the gills and Mrs. McFeenie, her hair slightly askew, was humming a little tune, her foot keeping tap to whatever beat was in her head. Sheila wondered what they could have possibly eaten for dinner, since she had so little groceries on hand. Jack was the only one who didn’t look too happy. Oh Lord, this evening was supposed to butter up his boss for a promotion! she realized. Uncle Harry handed her a cup of the toddy and she did not hesitate. I’ll be sorry in the morning, she thought…
January 16, 2007 at 10:17 pm #33269PeggyMemberbut this has been such a crazy day ever since I made the mess in the kitchen! As a matter of fact, looks like Irene got out of this by keeping the kids, SHE started this by calling me this morning, and now I am the one who has to deal with it all! She quickly downs the drink, and looks around to find Jack’s boss staring at her. She decides she really needs to go over and say hi. She takes one step forward and then….
January 17, 2007 at 7:19 pm #33406GeorgieannaParticipantfalls flat on her face! My goodness, are you alright Shelia, her aunt and Mr. McFennie say at the same time.
She turns onto her back and starts laughing hysterically. Everyone looks at each other because all of a sudden her laughing is hysterically evil. Shelia can’t control herself and she doesn’t know what is causing her to do such a sinister thing. And just as suddenly as it started, she stops and starts crying like a baby! My goodness, honey, what in heavens name is wrong with you, her aunt asks. Everything was going so bad today and then you and Uncle Harry showed up and I thought that things were just going to get………January 17, 2007 at 7:22 pm #33410generallParticipantNow I’ve got writers block 😆
