Norm, I hope that you enjoy your new job. It hopefully will be a good change of pace for you and your family. Do you still have your other business going too?

In time if/when you are refreshed and feel the need to be a caregiver again you can always go back. You are really special in knowing that you needed a break and doing so.

Nana I think I have had the flu as well as being sick from eating the peanut butter. I had been eating some almost everyday until Friday before last. I have been sick nearly ever since. I feel better today then I have felt the whole time and still not good..

Sorry to hear that. So, do you still have the jar of PB? If so, you might contact your county/state Health Department and tell them you may have been sick from eating it…they may want to test the peanut butter…I have heard that some other area ones were. Sure hope that you are feeling better. I know it isn’t a bit fun feeling that way.

…never tried any of them, but read that you can substitute arrowroot, potato starch/flour…brown rice flour…oat flour…soy flour…or whole grain flour to make a roux

I have used both of the following

…Another thickening method: a slurry of starch and liquid added to pan drippings. This method results in a lighter gravy with a glossy sheen. It is oftened used in Oriental recipes.

(One tablespoon of cornstarch will thicken 1-1/2 to 2 cups.)

Combine one tablespoon cornstarch with one tablespoon cold liquid until smooth. Add to hot pan drippings while stirring. Cornstarch thickeners are more inclined to lump if not constantly whisked into the hot liquid and can also taste starchy if not cooked long enough. Yet if overcooked or overstirred, cornstarch-thickened gravies can be come thin. Remove cornstarch-thickened sauce from heat before adding any acidic ingredients to improve thickening power.

Thicken soups, gravies and sauces by gradually adding instant potato flakes. The flakes never lump when added directly as flour and cornstarch do, and they add to the flavor.

Hate goin’ to WallyWorld, but seems like ya can’t get around it sometimes…without driving farther.

K-Mart closed most of their stores around this section of the country…there is one about 25 miles from here that sometimes I hit.

We have Meijer stores (like Super WalMarts) around this area…one about 25 & another about 30 miles. I’d rather go to them if not in a hurry…groceries I usually hit up Krogers…seems to me Wally World is higher than them on the majority of things…at least round here.

    Lucky, you might check out:

    http://www.colts.com/tailgate/Default.aspx

’round the area suggestions for ballgames/tailgating

    grilled pork burgers
    breaded tenderloin (pork) sandwiches
    beer brats
    chili
    hot wings
    …that type of thing
…there really isn’t anything that’s mainly for the Colts

Chicago-style hot dogs… you can also use pepperoncini if you can not find sport peppers they are just a little less firm, but close and are substituted sometimes.
