    Coney Island Sauce for Red-Hots

    3 med. onions, chopped
    2 1/2 lbs. ground meat
    1 1/2 tsp. oregano
    1 1/2 tsp. cumin
    2 tbsp. paprika
    2 tbsp. chili powder
    1 1/2 tsp. celery salt
    1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
    1 tbsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Chop onions and boil in enough water to cover. Boil until completely cooked. Add spices. Break up ground meat into small pieces and put into onion mixture. Cook about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Well, I got this info from a search engine on the history of the coney Island Red Hots:

The Coney Island hot dog was invented in 1867 by Charles Feltman in Coney Island, New York as a hot fast food he could sell from a push cart. He called them “Coney Island Red Hots“. Some people unsure of its ingredients called it “hot dog.” The original “Coney Island” hot dogs were served with mustard, onion, and sauerkraut, and were popular enough to encourage competitors (such as Nathan’s, also located in Coney Island).

    Guess I mis-interpeted it.
