Sarah just stood there wondering what in the world had caused Lily to leave the room so fast when she mentioned that she was going to research the house. Oh well, she said, I guess I’ll try my best to go back to sleep. Things will surely look better in the morning. After a restless few hours of trying to sleep, Sarah finally gave up, went downstairs and started brewing coffee. I wonder if Lily is an early riser, she says to herself. Just then she saw a shadow pass by the kitchen door. She calls out “good morning Lily”! Lily didn’t answer, so Sarah leaves the kitchen to find…
January 15, 2007 at 3:20 am #32844GeorgieannaParticipantno one outside. Gee she said to herself, it must be my imagination and the lack of sleep I got last night. Shelia went back inside to get some coffee and also bring a cup up to Lilly. When she knocked on the door to Lilly’s room there was no answer. Shelia put the coffee down on the little table beside the door and turned the knob. Slowly she opened the door as she didn’t want to wake her if she had fallen back asleep. But when she went inside the room, Lilly was no where to be found! A bit shaken Shelia ran downstairs and out the house to see if she could find Lilly around the perimeter of the house or by the shore.
January 15, 2007 at 3:51 am #32853generallParticipantSarah looked around the area for Lily and finally spotted her standing at the water’s edge, her back to the house. She called to her but Lily didn’t seem to hear. Making her way across the beach she finally got within, what she was sure was ear shot and called again. Lily turned toward her slowly. You gave me a start when I couldn’t find you this morning, Sarah said, with a little irritation in her voice. I thought you had changed your mind about staying. She noticed Lily was still clad in the clothes she came in, even though she had laid out some of her own night wear for her last night. She probably didn’t go to bed after all, she thought. What a strange girl, she said to herself, and wondered if she had made a mistake in inviting her to stay. Sarah shivered, the morning breeze off the water was cold. She wondered if Lily too was cold, though she gave no outward sign of it….

Sarah took a step towards Lily, and when she did, Lily turned around and stared at Sarah. She had such a blank look on her face that it sent chill bumps up and down Sarah’s body. “Lily, Lily, did you hear me ?”, Sarah asked. Lily turns away and starts walking into the water, and turns to Sarah and beckons to her to come with her. Sarah feels a pull so strong, that she has no choice but to follow her. They continue walking until the water is up to Sarah’s chin. Sarah tries to turn back, but….

January 15, 2007 at 6:23 am #32941GeorgieannaParticipantthe pull is so very strong, but then all of a sudden Sarah comes to her senses and realizes what she is doing and starts fighting against the water, trying to save herself and swim back to shore. The water is so chilly for a beautiful August day and the waves are rough and fighting Sarah every inch of the way. When she gets into water that she feels is a little safer she yells out to Lilly to come back but she sees no sign of Lilly at all. She frantically turns and gets to the shore as fast as she can. Her breath coming fast and hurting her chest, she collaspes on the ground to catch her breath. Sarah is so shaken by the events that have just happened and also puzzled by Lilly and the idea of it being a nightmare or was this really happening to her? Sarah, who nothing ever happened to, who led a life so boring she didn’t even like to share it with anyone.

Well, she thought, It sure wasn’t boring now! It seemed like a life time of events had happened in just a few days. Dragging herself to her feet, she headed to the house. I’ve got to get help! she said aloud. What if Lilly isn’t found? She would have to drive to town and notify the sheriff. She had no communication with the outside world, only the mysterious ringing of an otherwise dead phone. Although weak and more than a little shaken, from her ordeal, she fairly flew up the stairs, fearing the worst for Lily’s safety. As she passed Lily’s room, she stopped short. The door was ajar and she could see Lily laying on the bed. As she slowly moved toward the bed she realized, with a start, that Lily, still in the same clothes, did not appear to be even wet!…
