Sarah lay back on the pillow while Hattie cautiously left the room making sure Mike had left for town before sneaking into his room. She carefully went through his dresser drawers to see what he may have hidden there. It was peculiar that she didn’t find any sort of medicine in his room. Not even in the closet or under the bed, nowhere. Hattie thought for a minute and then walked down to the kitchen and searched quietly through there until suddenly she came across a bottle hidden in the back of a drawer seldom used and holding only odds of ends of kitchen utensils.
Hattie looked to see what the pills were and wondered why Sarah had woken so soon, My goodness, this could have put the child out for a couple of days. She searched for aspirin thoughout the kitchen and finding them she transferred them for the pills in the bottle. Smugly, Hattie quietly ascended the stairs and sat next to the bed waiting for the next time Sarah woke when she heard……
