The sound of an approaching vehicle! Oh thank heaven, she said aloud as a mail truck pulled up in front of the old house. She fairly flew to the truck. Please, her words spilled forth, I need a ride into town. My car was stolen and I am stranded!
Sarah slowly creeped towards the stairs afraid to go up and see who it was. The sobbing seemed to soften and Sarah debated what she should do. All she could think of was that before Kevin could get there she would completely lose her mind and what did he mean by being careful? Was he aware of things that she didn’t know. Could she be in danger? Real danger? Sarah was wondering if she should even attempt to climb the stairs. Maybe I should start walking towards town and hope that I meet up with the sheriff. I think I would even consider the company of that old woman, Hattie right now. Sarah was so shaken that she was pale in color and just did not know what she should do when all of a sudden she………

Hattie comes to a screeching stop, just inches from Sarah. Her gray hair, all tangled and wild, and her eyes looking cloudy, starts yelling at her, hurry up girl, get in the truck NOW, we have to get out of here, if you want to stay alive one more day! Sarah stands there shaking with fear, not knowing what to do. Hattie looked even worse than she did before, and with most everyone else in town saying she is crazy, Sarah really didn’t want to even think of getting in that truck with her! But, she couldn’t bear the thought of going back to the house either, even for one minute. She takes a deep breath, and starts walking slowly towards the truck….
I’m feeling much better Peggy, thanks. Just can’t overdo it and I have some medicine that makes me dizzy.
Sarah gets into the cab of the truck and bursts into tears. I’m sorry, Hattie, I’m just so nervous and upset. I don’t know what to do next or where to go but I’m afraid to stay in that old house tonight. What should I do? All of a sudden just saying that made Sarah feel more relaxed and safer. Hattie said, Child, that old house and that woman is no place for a innocent like you. You would be better off if I take you to town. Sarah sat there wondering what she should do while Hattie turned the truck towards town…….
Sarah think to herself, well, I guess that takes care of that! Looks like I have no choice but to trust this crazy old bat! On second thought, maybe she isn’t as crazy as she seems. She did come back for me. So Sarah turns to Hattie and says, Hattie, why did you tell me that I had to get away from that house and from Lily? What do you know about the house and her that I don’t? I just know that I have been having really bad dreams since I came to that house, and Lily just showed up out of no where. Hattie takes a deep breath, and was just starting to speak, when all of a sudden a low fast car speeds by them, going so fast it was almost impossible to tell who was driving, but Sarah saw with shock that it was Mike! She turns to tell Hattie to please turn around, but Hattie just looks at her, and shakes her head and says; NO! There is something that I have to tell you about Mike…
😆 😆 Think Peg means the fiance’, Kevin aka mike 😆 His name has changed a couple of times but it has been awhile since we’ve wrote on the story, at least for me. I’m thinking 🙄

I had named him Mike so I could remember his name, my son is Michael. Oh well……
