3 Cans Garbanzo beans (drained)
\n3 – 4 tablespoons Tahini (Sesame butter)
\n4 – 6 cloves Garlic (chopped)
\n1 Lemon or lime
\n1\/3 cup Olive Oil
\nSalt and Pepper to taste<\/p>\n

1. Saut\u00e9 the chopped garlic in oil over a low flame.<\/p>\n

2. Juice the lime or lemon.<\/p>\n

3. Place all of ingredients in a large blender. Blend well. This could take several minutes. Your hummus will be thick and have a dry consistency.<\/p>\n

4. Add water in about 1\/8 cup amounts and blend until he desired consistency is achieved.<\/p>\n

5. Set the hummus in a bowl. A few branches of parsley placed on the hummus adds a nice look to the dish.<\/p>\n

6. Just before eating make an indent in the center of the hummus plate and pour a small amount of olive oil into the indent.<\/p>\n

6. You can eat it right away, but the hummus improves if it sits overnight in the refrigerator.<\/p>\n

* Add 1 c steamed artichoke hearts<\/p>\n

Bean Hummus<\/p>\n

* Instead of chick peas, try using another kind of beans, like black beans or fava beans<\/p>\n

Beet Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add 1 pound cooked beets<\/p>\n

Curried Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add 1 T curry powder<\/p>\n

Garlic Hummus<\/p>\n

* Double or even triple the amount of garlic<\/p>\n

Green Onion Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add 3-4 green onions<\/p>\n

Mexican Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add \u00be c fresh cilantro
\n* Add 2 jalape\u00f1os, seeded
\n* Replace lemon juice with lime juice<\/p>\n

Olive Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add \u00bd c black or green olives<\/p>\n

Pesto Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add 1 c packed fresh basil leaves<\/p>\n

Red Pepper Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add two peeled, roasted red peppers<\/p>\n

Roasted Garlic Hummus<\/p>\n

* Saut\u00e9 the minced garlic in a bit of oil before adding to hummus<\/p>\n

Spinach Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add \u00bd c fresh spinach<\/p>\n

Spinach & Feta Hummus<\/p>\n

* Add \u00bd c fresh spinach
\n* Add 2-3 ounces feta cheese<\/p>\n

Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus<\/p>\n
