    WHOOPIE PIES

    1-1/2 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 cocoa
    2-2/3 cups flour
    1/2 cup sour milk (you can probably use sour cream or
    buttermilk)
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 cup Crisco (I use butter because I’m allergic to the Crisco,
    but the original recipe is for Crisco)
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 cup hot water
    1 tsp soda
    1 tsp baking powder

    Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs and vanilla mixing well. Mix
    cocoa with hot water and add to the creamed mixture, mixing
    thoroughly. Add flour, baking powder, soda and salt,
    alternating with sour milk and mix well. Drop by tablespoon on
    greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 10
    minutes until they bounce back at the touch of the finger. When
    cool place filling on one cookie, and place second cookie on top
    with the flat sides together.

    FILLING:

    3 Tbs. flour
    3/4 cup Crisco (or butter)
    1 tsp vanilla
    3/4 cup milk
    3/4 cup sugar

    Cook together flour and milk on low, stirring constantly as
    mixture will become very thick. Cream sugar and Crisco (or
    butter) with vanilla. After milk mixture has cooled, add
    creamed mixture to it. Whip with hand beater or electric mixer
    until light and fluffy.
