I live about a far away from Alligotor country as you can get in
the United States. I have never tasted it. Can you descibe the taste
and texture? I would love to try is sometime.

Yeah, Lucky, I agree, this is a question for the Coot! Old Coot lives here in Louisiana as I do, but he is one of the masters when it comes to Cajun food! I think I have eaten alligator one time, but it was fried, and sauced up as Lucky says. Kind of hard to actually describe it.

I had it fried once, and it was pretty chewy. But I hear that it can be tender.

My dad hit one in his SUV, and it made a really loud THUNK noise! He went back later and it was gone.......somebody had alligator for lunch!!!

Ok...re-reading that, let me clarify. The offending gator wasn't actually IN the SUV. My dad was DRIVING and hit the gator which was crossing the road. But, unlike the chicken, he didn't get to the other side!!!

Alligator is overpriced, overrated and the best I ever had was in sausage, mixed with pork and nicely seasoned.

Peggy, you can probably get some at Winn- Dixie, it is in the meat dept with the oysters. they also have shrimp and crawfish sausages there too...

and that's as far as I will geaux with gator meat. There are good dishes with gator,.. but I don't think they are worth the cost.
