Spring Fling Sauteed Onions

Spring Fling AleThis weekend I picked up a Blue Point Sampler Pack, which featured a nice variety of Blue Point brews! I was making rib-eye steaks for dinner and wanted to make some sauteed onions to go with it. This recipe came out amazing, the beer adds a nice flavor to the onions. These were the best onions I’ve had in awhile. If you don’t have Blue Point Spring Fling Ale in your area, feel free to substitute your favorite brew.

2 onions, sliced thin and then cut in half
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 stick butter
1/4 cup Blue Point Spring Fling Ale
salt, to taste
fresh cracked black pepper, to taste

Melt the butter in a saute pan. Add the onions and garlic and saute on medium-high heat for 10 minutes.

Lower heat to medium and add the beer. Simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking on medium-low heat until you are ready to serve. Once ready to serve, raise heat to high and saute for another minute or two.
