Not So Baked Potatoes

Grilled Honey PotatoesI was visiting my brother this weekend and we had a nice barbecue. He prepared this simple variation of baked potatoes, and it was really good!

4 potatoes
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons honey
1-2 tablespoons water
kosher salt, to taste

Wash your potatoes in the sink. Then dust the potatoes with salt, to taste. Place the potatoes on the upper rack of your grill or not directly over the heat. These can also be prepared in the broiler. Combine the butter, honey and water in a bowl and brush the potatoes with the butter-honey mixture. Rotate the potatoes and continue to brush them with the mixture every few minutes. After about 30 minutes, you the potatoes should be tender and ready to serve.

This recipe sounds like a great way to make baked potatoes more exciting. After all, baked potatoes can be rather bland even with lots of condiments. The salt and honey-butter technique is intriguing.

Ummm, don't you need to dock the potatoes to avoid eruptions? The recipe looks interesting. Almost turning a russet into a sweet potato

Does the Honey mixture form a crust on the potato? This sounds really intresting… Thank you for posting it.

  5. admin says:

It doesn't really form a crust. It just adds a nice flavor and makes for a nice and moist potato
